Hi, I’m Amber, the writer behind Florida Weekenders! My husband, Dylan (the photographer for this site), and I are Florida locals with a passion for exploring every corner of the Sunshine State.

While we’re experts in the Tampa Bay area, we’ve traveled everywhere from St. Augustine to Key West—discovering hidden gems, must-visit spots, and all the best ways to experience Florida.

Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a family adventure with little ones (like we do with our daughter!), or a quick weekend escape, we’re here to help you make the most of your trip. Let’s explore more of Florida together!

Why We Started Florida Weekenders

When most people think of a trip to Florida, they imagine a weekend in Miami or a visit to Disney World. But Florida has so much more to offer—charming historic towns, breathtaking beaches, hidden islands, and even crystal-clear natural springs.

I started Florida Weekenders to help both out-of-state travelers and fellow Florida locals discover the best of the Sunshine State and plan unforgettable trips.

The name “Florida Weekenders” comes from how we typically explore—taking long weekend trips as locals. But before moving to Florida five years ago, we’d escape the cold Midwest winters with 1-2 week Florida getaways each year. Now, we get to experience this beautiful state year-round, and we’re excited to share all of our favorite spots with you!
